Mother’s Day Bonsai Exhibit
Take Mom to this annual tradition!

Open to the Public
Each year the Minnesota Bonsai Society displays some of their finest work at the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory at Como. Members will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about the art of Bonsai and all the benefits of becoming a member of the Minnesota Bonsai Society.
For Members
Display your trees
Remember how fascinated you were when you first saw a bonsai tree at the state fair or Como? This is your opportunity to show your trees and inspire someone to learn about bonsai, to take a class, or to join the club. There is no judging of your trees at this event, just a chance to share your work with others. If you have viewing stones (suiseki) or accent plants that you would like to display, please sign up to bring them also. Do you want to know more about displaying your bonsai? Talk to other members or attend the Bonsai Concepts class. Trees and displays need to be dropped off at Como on Friday evening, May 10th between 6:00 and 7:30 and picked up on Sunday, May 12th between 6:00 and 7:30. You can sign up online or sign up at a general meeting, or at Bonsai Concepts class.
Volunteer
Sign up for one or more three-hour shifts on Saturday and/or Sunday between 9:30 and 6:00 during the event to answer questions and talk to visitors. You don’t need to be an expert, just enthusiastic! Even if you are insecure in your own bonsai knowledge, you are virtually guaranteed to know more than a member of the public walking in through the doors. Be an advocate for MBS. This is a great opportunity to share the benefits of joining the club with those that are interested. Added bonuses – you’ll have an opportunity to meet all kinds of interesting people that are fascinated by this art form as well as an opportunity to spend some quality time with other club members. Help set up the displays on Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and/or help take them down on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 7:30pm. Note: setting up is a great learning experience!
