Bonsai Concepts

Bonsai Concepts was created to allow you to begin your bonsai training with guided instruction and hands on assistance to be able to begin your bonsai education and improve the quality of your trees.

Each meeting begins with a classroom session followed by our helping you with your trees. All are welcome to come and learn, with or without trees. No signup needed, attend the classes. No one will go home with a “finished tree”. You cannot create a tree in one session. Each time you work on your tree, you will take steps to improve its’ health and create a more satisfying design. Each class is independent, but similar in regard to the topics we will address.

*Meetings are typically held the 3rd Saturday of the month. No classes in December or January. Please check the calendar for most recent dates and location changes.

February – Drilling holes on pots, wiring, planning
March – Repotting
April – Repotting
May – Air-layering and late season repotting
June – Deciduous cut back
July – Tropical Repotting
August – State Fair preparation
September – Getting ready for fall, conifer work
October – Late season Work/Winter Storage
November – Tool Sharpening/Wiring/Preparing for Spring
*December/January – No Concepts
